(Posted 7/18/2008 4:15:00 PM) Gosh, jockman, I hope it doesn't get around that you watch porn ... that infamous 'we' probably would find that behavior immoral and want to see you lose your job (it's not just cops that 'we' expect to be moral) ...
If making porn is like prostitution then so is watching it.
It is no employer's business what someone does in their free time. Unless it's illegal. In that instance, I would expect the cops to do their job (which simply involves enforcing the law).

(Posted 7/18/2008 5:51:00 PM) We eat our own. He appears on a reality tv show and someone starts digging. That someone has to be someone gay because who else would care that much? Then we spread the word around so that everyone knows. I'd like to know who told his department? Probably some bitchy one of our own.
Marcus Iron was a designer on Curb Appeal and no one noticed so he got off scott free. How did we miss that for so long?
I just think it is an ugly situation. I am not innocent in this either though I don't think I spread any of Mikey around. Would have kept it for myself. He's a hot guy and now can you imagine how he feels? I can.
And cosmo ir right. If he is a prostitute then we are his johns, and that too, sir, is illegal. Ask Mayor Koch.

(Posted 7/19/2008 12:43:00 AM) Didn't the same thing happen to Roman Ragazzi last year? Once he hit it big in porn word got around eventually to his employer and he lost his job. He wasn't a public figure or on tv.
Maybe Marcus Iron didn't suffer the same fate because he was self-employed.

(Posted 7/19/2008 5:01:00 PM) Cosmo, what makes you think Mikey didn't want this exposure. What makes you think he did the whole reality show and talked about being a cop to get this scandal brewing. Maybe he figured it would lead to something bigger like a job with a design firm or starting his own business in design.
you are right what we do in our private life is no ones business...but he didn't do the porn video in his private life...he did it in the public arena..therefore he opened himself up to this. and we do expect more from our police officers...you can't tell me Mikey wasn't so stupid as to not think about being exposed when he became a cop,..or when he did a national tv show. i'm sure he stopped and thought for just a split second "what if someone recognizes me?" Something tells me he wanted the exposure more then he wanted the privacy.
and for the record, i love porn and don't think its immoral...however, the moral majority would disagree....and lets face it, there is a certain standard that we expect from public officials....whether it be cops, judges, or politicians...we just hold those people to a higher standard...not saying its right.

Published: 7/19/08, 5:05 PM EDT
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A measure that aims to keep prostitutes from facing criminal charges has qualified for the November ballot in San Francisco.
The measure would bar authorities from spending money to investigate or prosecute people for engaging in prostitution.
The measure, which qualified Friday, would also end a local program that allows those caught soliciting a prostitute for the first time to avoid charges if they attend a class and pay a fine.
The Erotic Service Providers Union recently gathered the 12,000 signatures necessary to put the measure on the ballot.

(Posted 7/19/2008 11:24:00 PM) Cordell, why is that post under the Mikey V. thread? Is he a hustler on the side? I'd love to be hammering my nails into his pilot hole any day of the week, but I certainly wouldn't pay for it.
