I don't think I've ever seen a prerecorded show that was 45 minutes. Does anyone know the reason?

The show is following the network standard that a 6o minute show less ads and promos really runs 45 minutes.

I doubt that QAF will surface even on cable in its current format so it is strange that they are following the 45 minute length.

As the networks cram more and more ads and promos the shows keep on getting shorter. Back in the 70's a 90 minute made for TV movie would actually run 74 minutes. Today its is barely over an hour.

That's right. It's business as usual at Showtime. With rare exceptions, its series -- including BEGGARS & CHOOSERS, for example -- clock in at 40-45 minutes as a contractual stipulation to make sales in syndication and foreign markets a possibility. Apparently HBO figures OZ doesn't stand a chance in traditional venues and lets Tom Fontana fill the hour.

This was a co-production with Canada's SHOWCASE network who are running it Monday nights at 10 with - you guessed it- commercials!

I for one am glad they stick all the commercials AFTER the show rather than constantly interrupt the action to sell toothpaste.
