Great review. Voices most of the problems I've had with this show much more eloquently than I've been able to.

BTW, I can't believe they're taking another week off (why???), then coming back with the next new episode on the same night (Jan. 21st) as the Golden Globes. Showtime is run by idiots.

This weekend is the free Showtime preview on DishTV which usually parallels the same thing for all the cable systems.

I hope this isn't a sign that Showtime is embarrassed to show QAF in fear of losing potential new subscribers.

The free preview channel doesn't even mention the series.

QAF is also conspicuously not airing this weekend. Sadly, I think we've just indirectly established why we get another pre-emption so soon.

Well, if it walks and quacks like a duck...this is one reason why Showtime will probably never best HBO with a "groundbreaking series" of its own, since they feel they have to hide the QAF light under a bushel to snag more subscribers during their free weekend promotion.

Of course I have worked with straight people who won't subscribe to HBO BECAUSE of "Sex And The City" and "The Sopranos." (Hmmm...I wonder if those Biblical screensavers they have on their PC's have something to do with that?)

Well, no worries here. Personally, I'm glad QAF is taking a breather. That way, I don't have to agonize about watching Luke Perry's entrance into OZ this week...

I dont understand why Showtime is given a hard time over not airing a week of QAF during a free weekend. Could it be to show that if you want QAF, you willl have to pay, and contribute something to the bank account as opposed to free loading. it might be because Showtime has refused to have some episodes submitted to the MPAA, which means Showtime may have contractual reasons during a FREE weekend NOT to show certain shows. The Sopranos and Oz both have odd weeks off, and Sex in the City does as well. I dont know when the free weekends are, but it is the landscape of television. Showtime wont be as large as HBO, because HBO is way larger and has A LOT more money, but to say they arent as groundbreaking is ridiculas. the Sopranos type stuff has been done, its called Good fellas, and The Godfather series of films. And the prison drama has been done quite frequently. Both companies can co-exist and do quality shows, but i havent seen HBO bringing gay people in major roles other then as rapists in prison, or the dorky friend of the sluts from Sex in The City.
